Information for Presenters
Oral Presentations
- Oral presentations will be 15 minutes in duration, plus 3 minutes question time.
- Times will be strictly enforced by chairpersons – presentations running over 15 minutes will be cut short.
- Presenters are encouraged to practice talks and timing.
- Presentations must be checked by the presenter with the audio-visual technician in the speakers’ presentation room as soon as possible after registering at the Conference venue.
- Presenters should arrive at their session room, introduce themselves to the chairperson and familiarise themselves with the audio-visual facilities including checking their presentation at least 10 minutes prior to session commencement.
NextGEN Lightning Presentations
The NextGen Lightning session is designed to profile early career and student presenters wanting to share their research and network, without the need to present a full conference talk or paper.
- NextGEN Lightning presentations will be 3 minutes in duration, with an extra two minutes for questions and presenter changeover.
- Presenters will be able to use between 1 and 3 Microsoft PowerPoint slides maximum, produced using the conference NextGen Lightning slide template, and submitted in advance of the conference week (the template, submission deadline and instructions will be supplied after abstract acceptance).
- All slides must not contain animations of any kind. Slide content should be simple and not overburdened with detail – “minimising detail maximises information transfer”.
- Presentations should be pitched for an intelligent and somewhat informed but not specialist audience.
- Presenters are encouraged to practice talk timing as times will be strictly enforced by chairpersons. Presentations running over 3 minutes will be cut short.
- All presenters’ slides will be combined into one NextGen Lightning Conference Presentation by the organising committee. Individual presenters will have the opportunity to check their slides are displaying correctly as a part of this final combined presentation with the audio-visual technician in the speakers’ presentation room after registering at the Conference venue. No responsibility is taken by the conference organisers to ensure that slides display correctly – it is the responsibility of individual presenters to check.
- Presenters should arrive at their session room, introduce themselves to the chairperson and familiarise themselves with the audio-visual facilities including checking their presentation at least 10 minutes prior to session commencement.
